Cyber security is one of the most high-demand fields in the tech industry today. However, many beginners in Pakistan believe they cannot enter this field because they do not have a computer science degree or an IT background.
Here is the honest truth: you do NOT need a CS degree to get started. What you need is a structured path, foundational technical skills, and hands-on practice.
1. Master the Networking Foundations Before learning how to secure systems, you must understand how devices communicate. Learn what IP addresses, DNS, subnets, and ports are. This is the bedrock of cyber security.
2. Learn the Command Line (Linux) Most security tools are built to run on Linux. Familiarize yourself with basic terminal commands. You don't need to be a Linux genius, but you should know how to navigate the file system and run tools.
3. Focus on Defensive Security First Many beginners want to jump straight to "hacking." However, defensive security (learning how to protect, monitor, and configure firewalls) is much more in-demand for entry-level jobs in Pakistan.
4. Practice in Virtual Labs Use free platforms like TryHackMe or build your own home labs using VirtualBox. Hands-on experience is what employers look for.
At CyberAasan, we cover all these foundations in our 3-month live course. Taught in Urdu, it is designed specifically for people with zero IT experience to get job-ready step-by-step.
